We're coming up on the 2007 May Fest here in Tulsa and they just 'unveiled' the poster for this year.
May Fest is a street festival that focuses on artwork and art related crafts.
My problem with the poster is that to me, it reads May Fast because of the use of a triangle around the E.
Am I nuts or does it read like that to anyone else?

I read it as "May Fes". The more I look at it the more I get annoyed with the left-side whitespace.

To me the "T" looks like it was supposed to be an "J". I didn't notice the triangle surrounding the e.

I think my thing was that it was in the paper and the E wasn't even legible.
It just looked like a dark triangle.

It looks like "May Fast" to me too. How could the artist not have noticed? It jumps right out.

You have to look at each individual letter to "read" correctly. What, a poster convey the title of an event correctly? All you have to do is look at it for more than 10 seconds. You guys are just lazy. Haha. :)

May Fes was what I read over here also. I also didn't like the way I had to squint to read the writing - either I'm tired or need new glasses.

You should be able to get the full "effect" from a glance, as that is how most posters are seen (in passing).
If I walked past this on the street I would have been completely confused.

I also read it as "MaY FES."
I hate looking at a poster that's supposed to announce an event yet leaves you wondering what the heck the poster is supposed to announce. This poster is too clever by half.

Mayfes. Where we confess our Mays?
Yeah, I can see how that would look horrid in a newspaper. People need to keep things in mind when designing for newspapers as well. They're printed on the cheapest, crappiest paper stock on earth and ink doesn't hold for jack. *gets off soapbox before he really gets going*

I read it as May Fas. I'm a first. :D
The E and the T are the only troubled ones to me.

I saw "May Feast" at first glance. I like it though, it's really whimsical and there's a place for that. I wouldn't make it like that myself though.

Hmm. I seem to have forgotten the closer [/sarcasm] in my earlier reply. ;)

That's awful for newsprint...and just not that great in general.

I saw May Fas, then May Fes, then May Fast, then May Fest.
Not the best type there.
