Is Photoshop Deblur the Frontpage for Photographers?
-
Here is a video and some background for the new Photoshop Blur. It's almost cheating for photographers that don't know how to hold a camera steady. Is technology taking away too much control from the creative or are tools like this empowering?

It can only be a good thing. I like to think I know how to handle my DSLR but this would still have saved my life a few times. I can't can't see how it takes any creative control away - creatives can always decide it or not. It will keep them on their toes though, as once again a skill that used to take time and effort to learn has become a simple 'photoshop option' which increases the competition. That said there is a lot more to a photo that a sharp image, so the good photographers will continue to have a career for a while yet :)

By complete chance I came across this quote shortly after seeing the adobe deblurring demo. Seems apt for this discussion
There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.

I think Photoshop Deblur is going to be similar in use to the Content-Aware function. It will have its uses and will probably work well. However, like the Content-Aware tool, it will not be a Holy Grail, image-saving plugin. I could not see it as a flawless function.
With that in mind, what people will do with it will be interesting to see.
