If every niche in the Web 2.0 is over saturated then why are there still so many web applications that suck? There really isn't any excuse for releasing a piss poor application considering everything that you shouldn't do is already available to you. I look at what makes a web app suck and hopefully future creators of applications will take notice.
Especially for all the people who tend to complain that their stuff isn't getting any traction or how VC money gives the competition an upper-hand. If your stuff isn't up to snuff it won't succeed no matter what and competition should only drive improvement and make you strive to create something worthwhile and remarkable.

If they are doing it for the money and not the user, how can these apps not suck? Perhaps if they were honestly critiqued that would help spark to evolution in the niche.

I think the main problem is the shortcuts they decide to take. Everything is so fast-paced nobody takes the time to sit down and actually see if they are doing anything well. They just want to be out the door faster than the next guy.
