a lot of people talk about standards in ther portfolios/interviews, just so they sound like they know wtf they are doin. like ozone mentioned standards are really not as important as usability. i mean what difference does it make how fast your site loads, if i can't read it?

needless to say, next week i was called to do the job, and they got a month tacked onto the waiting time for me to get started.

well i will admit i came up on at least 2 things on tyme's list. but i had reasoning behind those choices, so although they were an inconvenience to readers(HA!), i did it on purpose. I have tried to correct at least one of those issues, but i still don't think i needed to.

i will say though that i hate those snap.com ads more then you know. i find myself jut closing pages that use them because i don't want the headache.

if you are going dslr, prepare to take out a mortgage. 500$ and up body, 500$ and up lens. not including compact flash memory, flashes, etc.

yes before or after the content. i've been to sites that have like adsense links right in between paragraphs, which totally screws up the reading flow and i usually leave the site. and as for side ads, unless really appealing to me, i usually never click on them.

a couple others kinda touched on this but you have to protect your band no matter what. there is a law, and i'm not 100% the ruling so don't quote me, but if you knowing let someone rip off your brand, over a period of time you will lose the rights to it. so even though you may seem like a monster for picking on a little guy. you have to do that sometimes just to protect yourself.

ok you already heard my take on this. while i will go to the validator to make sure my code isn't thrashed to hell, once it gets to a point where it works in the major browsers, i could care less what te w3 thinks of me. because the only person thats gonna go behind me a check that it is valid is.....me. so i think people put those valid xhtml etc badges up is mostly for vanity. my only concern when i come to your site is that it loads right, i don't care how you did it. can you honestly say you've clicked on it on someone else's site? probably not.
